Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau in the Chernivtsi region exposed a resident who was illegally selling counterfeit tobacco products.

Law enforcement officers inspected the suspect's car and seized more than 21,000 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps from illegal circulation.

The estimated value of the counterfeit product is UAH 1.6 million.

Currently, the pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, transportation, storage for sale of illegally manufactured excise goods) continues, and the entire circle of persons involved in the distribution of illegally manufactured tobacco products on the territory of the city and region is established.

Operative support was carried out by employees of the DVB of the Main Department of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region. Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office are in charge of the proceedings.

Remind, recently the detectives of the ESBU seized the fourth truck with goods worth UAH 34 million.
