Detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in Odesa region continue to investigate the case of large-scale illegal production and sale of counterfeit perfumes.

Currently, the property used in the manufacture of counterfeit goods has been seized. The total value of the seized equipment is over UAH 115 million.

Detectives also conducted two additional searches of warehouses in Odesa region where the finished products were stored. More than 10 thousand vials branded with world-famous trademarks with an estimated value of UAH 3.9 million were seized.

Samples of the counterfeit perfumes were sent to the companies representing the right holders to establish the amount of damage.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings under Part 3 Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of a trademark, trade name, qualified indication of the origin of goods by an organized group causing material damage on a particularly large scale) is ongoing. Operational support is provided by the National Police's DBR in Odesa region with the Odesa region Prosecutor's Office providing procedural supervision.

As a reminder, the ESBU in Odesa region discovered large-scale production of counterfeit perfumes. During 19 searches, 40 thousand bottles of finished counterfeit products of well-known global brands were found. In total, about 50 items.

Subsequently, detectives exposed a scheme to supply components for the production of counterfeits from abroad. During the search of the Southern Port customs post, almost 140 thousand bottles of bottled perfumes were found.
