Detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region have uncovered yet another scheme for the sale of illegal electronic cigarettes and liquids for refueling. 17 thousand devices were removed.

The investigation established a group of persons who, since March 2022, arranged the supply of illegally manufactured tobacco products without excise tax stamps and their subsequent sale in the territory of Kyiv region.

The counterfeit was kept in Fastov and Bila Tserkva Kyiv region. Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine conducted 6 searches during which nearly 17,000 electronic cigarettes and refill liquids were seized. UAH 220,000 in cash were also found.

The estimated value of excise goods seized from illegal circulation is almost UAH 6 million. Currently, the full circle of involved persons and the details of the scheme for the supply of counterfeit tobacco products are being established.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal storage and transportation for the purpose of sale of excise goods) is carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

We will remind, recently detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region seized counterfeit cigarettes and alcohol worth more than UAH 12 million. Illegally manufactured products were supplied from Chernivtsi region.
