Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Odesa region exposed the large-scale production of a full cycle of counterfeit perfume products of well-known global brands. Goods and equipment worth UAH 70 million were seized.

During the searches, 40,000 bottles of ready-made counterfeit products of well-known global brands, etc., were found. In total about 50 names.

Equipment for mass production was also removed: an automated installation for bottling and mixing liquids, a printing press, containers with the corresponding concentrate and raw materials, printing, packaging film, sprays and bottles for bottled perfumes.

In total, ESBU detectives together with the National Security Service of the Odesa region, conducted 19 searches at factories, warehouses, sales points and at the residences of the individuals involved.

The scheme for the production of perfumes was carried out by an organized criminal group of persons which included natives of the Syrian Arab Republic. They equipped several production sites and involved Ukrainian citizens in the implementation. Each member of the group was assigned a certain role in the process of production, storage and sale of counterfeit goods.

Products were sold not only in the Odesa region but also throughout Ukraine. Counterfeit perfumes were sold in bulk and at retail through Internet sites, Telegram channels and at sales points of the "7 Kilometer" market.

Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of a mark for goods and services, a company name, a qualified indication of the origin of goods by an organized group with the task of causing material damage in a particularly large amount) is carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the Odesa region under the operational support of the National Police Service of the Odesa region and the procedural leadership of the Odesa region regional prosecutor's office.
