Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau in the Odesa region seized almost 25,000 packs of cigarettes of well-known brands without excise tax stamps as part of a pre-trial investigation. The estimated value of the confiscated goods is UAH 2 million.

The investigation established a resident of Odesa who rented a garage and stored counterfeit products. The person involved was engaged in illegal sales for about a year. The goods were sold throughout Ukraine through the Telegram channel.

As a result of the searches, employees of the Territorial Office seized almost 25,000 packs of cigarettes. The estimated value of seized counterfeit products is UAH 2 million.

Currently, the full range of persons involved in the scheme and the origin of the goods are being established.

Pre-trial investigation on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale, or transportation for sale of excise goods) is carried out by the detectives of TO of the ESBU in the Odesa region under the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Odesa region of the SSR of the National Police of Ukraine.
