Analysts of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Lviv region prevented the embezzlement of UAH 117 million of budget funds. The contractor for the construction of a sports complex was to be a company with no experience of such work.

The Bureau's experts found that the sports complex in Kamianka-Buzka was to be built on the basis of co-financing from the regional and municipal budgets. After examining the documents the analysts found that the winner of the tender did not meet the qualification criteria set by the customer.

As it turned out the officials of the company that was to be awarded the contract submitted false information to the tender about their alleged experience in the construction of such facilities.

In this regard the analysts sent a letter to the contracting authority recommending that it reconsider the decision on the contract.

At the same time the information about the violations was sent to the Department of Procurement monitoring and inspections of the State audit service which based on the ESBU experts' findings, ordered the contracting authority to terminate the contract for the construction of the sports complex.

Analysts also sent an information letter about the alleged fact of official forgery (entering false information into official documents) to the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
