ESBU has reached several oligarchs in a short time and is systematically investigating these cases. This was emphasised by the Acting Director of the ESBU Andrii Pashchuk in his interview with the Liga newspaper.
"It is difficult to please everyone. If they don't touch the oligarchs, it's bad, if they do, it's not good either. But whether someone likes it or not the ESBU is a structure that has reached several oligarchs in a short time and is systematically investigating these cases," said the head of the ESBU.
He also said that there are many difficulties in such cases. They are usually politicised. And the events are often remote in time.
According to Pashchuk in the course of investigating economic and corruption cases it is desirable to have some preliminary information and document it during the period of preparation or commission of the crime. Nevertheless, detective teams are working on all these cases and analysts are actively involved.
Economic Security Bureau is currently investigating a number of high-profile cases involving oligarchs. Among them are the Firtash case where 15 people have already been notified of suspicion and the cases of Kolomoisky, Shelkov, Friedman and others.
"These cases are of national interest. I won't tell you any details it is the prerogative of detectives but in the course of the investigation we are doing everything that prosecutors and detectives need to do. We are establishing the circle of those involved, preparing materials to bring them to justice," Pashchuk said.
