Tobacco warehouse worth 3.8 million UAH: illegal business organizer to face trial in Kodyma

 A resident of the Podilsk district who organized the illegal sale of tobacco products without excise tax stamps will stand trial.

Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Odesa region established that since mid-2025, the businessman had been buying and illegally reselling cigarettes of well-known brands without the appropriate licenses.

The suspect used his own car and the services of a postal operator to deliver the excise goods. The man stored the illegally manufactured tobacco products in warehouses on the premises of a private property in the city of Kodyma.

During the search, detectives found 26,746 packs of illegally manufactured tobacco products of various brands, as well as 50 bags of tobacco products without excise tax stamps. The total value of the seized items is nearly 3.8 million UAH.

To ensure compensation for the damage caused by the criminal offense, the seized property has been placed under arrest.

The man was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal purchase, storage, transportation, and sale of illegally manufactured tobacco products.

The suspect faces a fine ranging from five thousand to ten thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, along with the confiscation and destruction of the illegally manufactured goods.

The indictment has been sent to the court.

Note that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court's verdict of guilty.
