A meeting between the leadership of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine and diplomats from 16 EU member states took place at the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine. The event was attended by the First Deputy Director of the ESBU, Taras Shcherbai; the Deputy Director of the ESBU, Pavlo Buzdyhan; as well as specialists from the analytical unit and the International Cooperation Department of the ESBU.
During the event, the ESBU presented concrete performance results in bringing the economy out of the shadow, alongside approaches to countering complex cross-border tax violations. Special attention was paid to analytical tools applied to detect and disrupt artificial business-splitting schemes.
Furthermore, the participants were presented with real-world examples demonstrating the mechanisms for identifying economic risks and eliminating the root causes of offenses. This made it possible to assess the impact of the Bureau's activities on the processes of bringing the economy out of the shadow.
The event was attended by diplomats from the embassies of France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Finland.
Following the discussion, the diplomats noted the importance of further developing cooperation in countering economic crimes and expressed interest in the ESBU's developments regarding countering complex tax schemes and bringing the economy out of the shadow.
