Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Volyn region have completed a pre-trial investigation and referred an indictment to court against the former head of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Volyn Regional State Administration.
The investigation established that in March 2022, the Volyn Regional State Administration was tasked with procuring 4,000 tons of wheat to meet urgent state needs under martial law. The official, abusing his office, ensured the conclusion of a contract with an agricultural enterprise at inflated prices.
As a result of these actions, the wheat was purchased at a price exceeding the average market rate.
According to the conclusion of the forensic economic expert examination, more than UAH 4.7 million in damages were caused to the state budget.
The former official was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 (Abuse of office causing grave consequences) and Part 1 of Article 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictment has been referred to the court.
Operational support was provided by the SSU Office in the Volyn region, together with the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police. Procedural guidance was carried out by the prosecutors of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office.
