Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Chernivtsi region seized another batch of counterfeit cigarettes that were illegally transported to Romania. The truck driver has been charged with suspicion.

Employees of the ESBU seized more than 165,000 packs of cigarettes with an estimated value of UAH 12 million. Contraband goods were hidden in fuel tanks that according to the documents passed through the customs checkpoint as empty.

It will be recalled that earlier a truck was detained at the border in which they tried to illegally transport cigarettes worth UAH 4.5 million in the same way.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Art. 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (movement across the customs border of Ukraine outside of customs control or with concealment from customs control of excise goods in large quantities) continues. Organizers, suppliers and manufacturers of counterfeit cigarettes are established.
