The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine (ESBU) has initiated the creation of a working group together with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on preventing the circumvention of sanctions by citizens of russia and belarus. This was reported by the Director of the ESBU, Vadym Melnyk, at the 23rd meeting of the OECD Working Group on Tax and Other Crimes (TFTC).
"Today, we have to promptly respond to challenges related to the aggressor country. Therefore, I propose to form an informal working group for effective interaction between the ESBU and the competent authorities of the OECD member countries regarding the prevention of circumvention of sanctions by residents/non-residents of the russian federation and the republic of belarus. And also - for effective coordination of our actions in joint investigations of similar cases", - noted Vadym Melnyk.
The Director of the Bureau thanked the international partners for their cooperation and emphasized that cooperation with the OECD provides an opportunity to quickly learn about global developments in the field of combating tax and other crimes, as well as to implement them in the "real time" mode, which is now critically important.
The participants of the discussion supported Vadym Melnyk's initiative and included it in the minutes of the meeting. In the near future, the TFTC Secretariat will work out the format of the working group together with the ESBU.
We would like to remind you that the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine is directly involved in the control of the economic component of the sanctions policy. ESBU analysts investigate the activities of companies whose beneficiaries are citizens or legal entities from russia or belarus. On the initiative of ESBU, the property of such companies with a total value of more than UAH 31 billion was seized.
