In Zakarpattia, the ESBU detectives stopped an attempt to smuggle timbe

 Detectives from the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region prevented an attempt to illegally export almost 20 m³ of beech sawn timber.

A freight truck belonging to a local entrepreneur arrived at one of the checkpoints in Zakarpattia and was planning to proceed to Romania. During customs control, it was discovered that the submitted documents contained false data regarding the cargo.

As a result, detectives seized nearly 20 m³ of timber worth over UAH 180 thousand.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 201-1 (smuggling of timber or sawn timber of valuable and rare species of trees, unprocessed timber, as well as other timber prohibited for export outside the customs territory of Ukraine across the customs border of Ukraine outside of or hidden from customs control) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing.
