In Zakarpattia, based on the materials of the ESBU, the head of an institute and a warehouse manager will be tried for the embezzlement of 300 tons of grain

 Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region established that the head of the research institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the manager of the grain warehouse embezzled 300 tons of grain. According to the investigation, they acted in a prior conspiracy and used their official position for personal gain.

To conceal the shortage of grain, the officials entered false data into official documents—allegedly, the grain was still being stored in the warehouse. As a result of these actions, the state suffered losses of almost 1.9 million UAH.

The case was referred to court for committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of the Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement of another's property through abuse of official position, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, on an especially large scale, under martial law) and Part 1 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (drawing up and issuing by an official of knowingly false official documents, entering knowingly false information into official documents, other falsification of official documents).

The suspects' property was seized for the amount of 2 million UAH to secure possible compensation for damages.
