In the Zakarpattia region, a utility company reimbursed over 5.6 million UAH to the budget

 The utility company returned over 5.6 million UAH in environmental tax to the budget. The utility company understated its tax obligations by this amount.

Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Zakarpattia region established that in 2021–2024, when declaring the environmental tax for the disposal of waste at the landfill, the enterprise did not apply the coefficient provided for by law. As a result, tax obligations were understated, and the budget did not receive over 5.6 million UAH.

In August, ESBU detectives notified the chief accountant of the enterprise of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional evasion of tax payment).

During the pretrial investigation, the enterprise fully reimbursed the damage caused to the state.

Since the unpaid tax was voluntarily paid, a motion was sent to the court to release the person from criminal liability. Operational support was carried out by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Zakarpattia region of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

Procedural guidance was carried out by prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a criminal offense and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
