Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region together with border guards of the Operational and Investigative Department of the Kyiv State Border Guard Company found warehouses in Kyiv region where counterfeit excisable goods were stored. Cigarettes and alcohol worth UAH 2.8 million were seized from illicit trafficking.

The investigation established that a criminal group operates in Kyiv region, selling illegally manufactured tobacco products and alcohol. The defendants stored counterfeit goods in warehouses in particular in Bila Tserkva and Fastiv. They sold counterfeit goods wholesale and retail throughout Ukraine.

During the investigation the detectives of the ESBU found and seized almost 40 thousand packs of illegally manufactured cigarettes almost 350 liters of counterfeit alcoholic beverages with fake excise tax stamps and a truck used to transport the products to the points of sale.

The estimated value of the seized items is UAH 2.8 million.

The investigation is ongoing. The full range of persons involved in the illegal activity and ways of supplying counterfeit products are being established.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv region in cooperation with the border guards of the Operational and Investigative Department of the Kyiv State Border Guard Service. Operational support is provided by the special unit "DOSOR". Procedural supervision is provided by prosecutors of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office.
