Detectives of the Territorial Department Economic Security Bureau in Poltava region exposed the clandestine production of excisable goods.

The investigation established the organizer of the production and sale of tobacco products without excise tax stamps. Illegal activities were carried out in a garage on the territory of a garage cooperative. With the help of special equipment, the defendant established a full cycle of production of tobacco products. Finished products were sold on the Internet and at retail outlets, exclusively for cash.

Employees of the Bureau searched the place of underground production. 5 machines for making cigarettes, tobacco about 2,000 packs of counterfeit products, sleeves for stuffing tobacco, flavorings and packaging equipment were seized.

In addition, the man himself made equipment for the illegal production of cigarettes. In the future sold the finished accessories to other underground shops.

Currently, the full range of persons involved in the criminal scheme is being established.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in Poltava region under the operational support of employees of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava region and the procedural leadership of the Poltava regional Prosecutor's office.

For reference: Violation of Part 2 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to five years with confiscation and destruction of illegally produced or purchased goods, tools and raw materials for their manufacture.
