ESBU detectives in the Lviv region submit an indictment to the court regarding the illegal import of tobacco products
Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Lviv region have completed a pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against a Lviv region resident who attempted to illegally import tobacco products into Ukraine.
The investigation established that the woman transported tobacco products in the form of "snus" chewing tobacco across the Ukrainian customs border without excise tax stamps for the purpose of subsequent sale.
During the inspection of the suspect's vehicle at the "Shehyni–Medyka" checkpoint, law enforcement officers discovered and seized excisable goods with an estimated value of over 120,000 UAH.
The woman was not registered as a business entity and did not possess any permits or licenses to sell excisable products.
She was served with a notice of suspicion for committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of excisable goods for the purpose of sale).
The indictment has now been submitted to the court.
