Detectives of the ESBU in the Chernivtsi region uncover an illegal alcohol trade at «Kalynivskyi market»

 Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region have shut down the illegal activities of entrepreneurs selling alcoholic beverages without the required permits.

The underground trade took place directly on the territory of the «Kalynivskyi market» in Chernivtsi.

During authorized searches of three retail containers, law enforcement officers discovered and seized nearly 5,000 bottles of distilled spirits with a total volume of approximately 3,000 liters. The entrepreneurs failed to provide any documents confirming the legal origin of the excise goods.

In addition to the alcohol, detectives seized over 700,000 UAH in cash, as well as ledgers and records documenting the illegal business operations.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Part 1 of Article 199 (illegal actions with excise tax stamps) and Part 1 of Article 204 (illegal manufacture, storage, sale, or transportation of excisable goods for sale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Relevant forensic examinations have been ordered, and the full circle of individuals involved in the illegal activities is being identified.
