Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine exposed individuals who organized the illegal production and sale of perfume products of well-known world brands.

The investigation established that the counterfeit products were manufactured on an industrial scale in Dnipro city. Subsequently the counterfeit perfumes were sold in Ukraine at reduced prices. Such actions caused damage to international companies.

In order to stop and document the illegal activity the ESBU searched warehouses and retail premises where the products were stored and sold. A large number of counterfeit perfumes with an estimated value of UAH 15 million were found and seized.

Currently investigative actions are ongoing the full range of persons involved in illegal activities is being established.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of a mark for goods and services, company name, qualified indication of the origin of goods) is carried out by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Recently, detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in Odesa region exposed a large-scale illegal production and sale of counterfeit perfumes. Property worth UAH 115 million was seized.
