The delegation of representatives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine took part in the implementation of the second phase of the TIWB-C

The delegation of representatives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine took part in the implementation of the second phase of the TIWB-C (Tax Inspectors Without Borders – Criminal Investigations) programme in Amsterdam, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The TIWB-C programme is aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework in the field of combating tax crimes and enhancing the effectiveness of pre-trial investigations. A resolute approach to countering tax fraud is extremely important for Ukraine, as it is directly linked to the country’s European integration course.

One of the main priorities of the ESBU is the elimination of global tax evasion schemes. This task is impossible without effective international cooperation; therefore, building partnerships and exchanging information with foreign competent authorities has become a strategic direction of work.

Within the second phase of the programme, the Ukrainian delegation:

- received practical recommendations on applying the best international practices in criminal investigations of tax crimes;

- strengthened the institutional capacity of the ESBU in analysing and investigating complex cross-border schemes;

- expanded channels for information exchange and cooperation with foreign partners;

- enhanced the expertise of ESBU staff through practical case studies and training sessions.

Participation in the programme became another step towards building a sustainable system of international interaction for the ESBU, enabling it to more effectively identify and eliminate global tax schemes.
