Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in the Chernivtsi region completed the pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings for the attempt to transport over 20,000 liters of alcohol across the state border of Ukraine.

The investigation established that an official of one of the entities producing alcohol planned to ship it to Bulgaria for sale under the guise of "winter windshield washer fluid." Products with a total value of about UAH 3 million were seized.

So far the person has been served with a notice of suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excise goods) the case was referred to the court.

As previously reported, in September of this year, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in the Chernivtsi region together with the employees of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office and the 31st Chernivtsi Border Squad stopped an attempt to transport excise goods across the state border of Ukraine.
