Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Odesa region seized more than 6 tons of hookah tobacco and about 1 million packs of cigarettes of well-known brands without excise stamps. The estimated value of the seized goods is almost UAH 103 million.

In the course of investigative and operative actions the employees of the ESBU established that the individuals rented a warehouse in the industrial zone in Odesa. Detectives conducted a search and seized the goods.

Cigarettes were planned to be sold in wholesale batches on the territory of Odesa region and sent by mail to other regions of Ukraine.

The investigation is ongoing. The full circle of persons involved in illegal activities is established.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is carried out by the detectives of TD of the ESBU in Odesa region the procedural management is the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
