According to materials from the ESBU, two officials suspected of embezzling nearly UAH 4 million in state funds will stand trial in the Lviv region

 Detectives from the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Lviv region have completed a pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to court against two officials involved in the misappropriation of budget funds.

The investigation established that the director of a state-owned enterprise, while performing work on the development of a project and estimating documentation for the construction of a children's hospital, deliberately entered false information regarding the calculation of its construction cost.

Another official, abusing his official position and violating the approved procedure for developing project and cost estimate documentation, transferred approximately UAH 20 million in budget funds to the aforementioned state-owned enterprise, of which almost UAH 4 million was subsequently embezzled.

Detectives from the regional administration informed the official that he was suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position, resulting in serious consequences).

The director of the state-owned enterprise is charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation, embezzlement, or acquisition of property through abuse of official position committed on an especially large scale).

The indictment against the aforementioned individuals has been sent to court.

The proceedings are being conducted by prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
