Tobacco business worth 4.4 million UAH: the scheme ended with a court verdict

 An Odesa court found a 28-year-old man guilty of organizing the sale of illegally manufactured tobacco products without a license.

Detectives established that during the year, without the corresponding permit and license for trading in excisable goods, the suspect illegally purchased and then resold them at inflated prices.

He accepted orders through Telegram channels and sent them by mail across the entire territory of Ukraine. He stored the goods on warehouse premises in the village of Lymanka, Odesa district.

During searches of the vehicle in which the man transported illegally manufactured cigarettes, as well as at the warehouses, ESBU detectives detected nearly 50,000 packs of tobacco products. The estimated value of the seized items is 4.4 million UAH.

The court found the suspect guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 204 (illegal manufacturing, storage, sale, or transportation for sale of exciseable goods) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to a fine, with confiscation and destruction of the illegally manufactured goods.
