Detectives from the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in Kyiv ensured the reimbursement to the state budget of over UAH 7.5 million in Value Added Tax (VAT) that had been unpaid by an enterprise operating in the construction sector.
The investigation established that the head of the enterprise received significant funds as an advance payment for work performed. He was required to reflect these operations in the accounting and tax records. However, he deliberately failed to declare the tax liabilities, causing the budget to receive significantly less funding.
The total amount of damage caused to the state exceeded UAH 7.5 million.
The ESBU detectives served a notice of suspicion to the head of the enterprise for committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional evasion of taxes).
Thanks to the work of the detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in Kyiv, the losses to the state have been compensated in full. The funds have already been paid into the budget.
The criminal proceedings have been sent to court.
Procedural guidance was provided by the prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
