The ESBU in Zakarpattia has uncovered a scheme for manufacturing fake Ukrainian and EU documents

 Detectives exposed the activities of three residents who, by prior conspiracy, organized the illegal production and sale of official documents of Ukraine and European Union countries, including passports and driver's licenses, both within Ukraine and to Ukrainian citizens living in EU countries.

The investigation established and documented the facts of the suspects' sale of forged documents. According to the results of the expert examination, inconsistencies with established authentic samples in official circulation in the issuing countries were revealed.

The organizer of the illegal activity was detained at the exact moment of transferring another batch of forged documents.

Based on the results of authorized searches conducted at the residences of the suspects in the criminal proceedings, equipment and blanks for the illegal production of documents were seized.

Based on the evidence gathered during the pre-trial investigation, detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Zakarpattia region served notices of suspicion to three residents of Zakarpattia under Part 2 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for the manufacture and sale of counterfeit official documents with holographic security elements applied to them.

The court imposed a preventive measure on the organizer of the illegal activity: detention, with an alternative of bail of UAH 99.8 thousand.

Operational support is provided by the SSU Office in the Zakarpattia region and the Zakarpattia Department of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

The prosecution is supervised by the prosecutors of the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
