Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Odesa region have uncovered an official from a research institute who intentionally evaded paying nearly UAH 1.6 million in unified contributions for compulsory state social insurance.
The investigation was initiated based on analytical materials provided by the Information Analysis and Risk Management Department of the Odesa Territorial Office.
According to the investigation, the enterprise—which performs repairs and modernization of systems in the field of specialized state technologies—had the financial capacity to pay the contributions. However, the chief accountant redirected the funds to other non-priority payments. As a result, nearly UAH 1.6 million was not transferred to the social insurance funds.

The suspect has been notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 212-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentionally evading the unified contribution for compulsory state social insurance.
During the pre-trial investigation, the enterprise voluntarily reimbursed the state for the full amount of damages, totaling over UAH 1.6 million. Consequently, a motion has been submitted to the court to release the suspect from criminal liability.
Operational support was provided by detectives from the Strategic Economic Protection Department of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Odesa region. Procedural oversight was conducted by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
