Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region have exposed a local resident who organized a channel for the illegal import of vehicles under the guise of aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, instead of being sent to the front, the cars were used for subsequent resale.
The investigation established that from January 2024 to October 2025, the person involved imported cars using a simplified customs clearance procedure for humanitarian goods. To pass customs control, he submitted documents with false information regarding the preferential import of vehicles.
In total, 12 cars were illegally moved in this manner, the estimated value of which is nearly UAH 1.5 million.
During the searches, detectives seized two vehicles.
Currently, the man has been notified of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal movement of excisable goods across the customs border of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The procedural guidance is carried out by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.
