Representatives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine took part in a meeting of the Task Force on Combating Illicit Trafficking of Tobacco Products, organised by the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine.

The event was also attended by experts from the Security and Intelligence Service of the Republic of Moldova, the European Anti-Fraud Office, the Romanian Association for Combating Illegal Trade, and tax and customs authorities from Romania, Poland and Hungary.

In turn, Ukraine was represented by the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of Tobacco Manufacturers Ukrtyutyun.

The participants discussed the criminalisation of smuggling, the specifics of investigating this type of crime, and international practices for combating the illegal importation of excisable goods and other products.
