Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region have sent to court an indictment against the head of an amalgamated community on abuse of office.

The investigation established that at the end of 2022 the AH purchased several hundred sets of winter military uniforms for a volunteer community in Kyiv region.

Later detectives found out that the jackets, pants, sweaters and hats supplied by the company were of poor quality and did not comply with the terms of the contract and tender documentation. The head of the community knowing about this and acting intentionally, accepted the clothes, signed the invoices and illegally transferred almost UAH 2.5 million from the local budget.

The experts' conclusions also confirmed that the supplied military uniforms did not meet the established standards and could not be used for their intended purpose.

As a result the local budget suffered losses of almost UAH 2.5 million.

During the pre-trial investigation the suspect's property worth almost UAH 5 million was seized.

Currently the local official was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of office) and the indictment was sent to court.

Prosecutors of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office are providing procedural supervision.
