Analysts of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Odesa region found a tender for the purchase of a computed tomography system at an inflated price. One of the region's healthcare institutions tried to purchase the equipment for almost UAH 23 million.

The utility company and the supplier had already signed a contract and posted it on the Prozzoro electronic public procurement system.

The specialists of the Territorial Department analyzed purchases of similar medical equipment by other customers and found out that the cost of the tomograph was overstated.

In order to prevent the misappropriation of local budget funds analysts of the ESBU sent a letter to the utility company with recommendations to verify compliance with public procurement legislation and strengthen control over its procurement.

As a result of the measures taken the procurement contract was terminated and the unjustified use of funds was prevented.
