Issues of protection of funds and technical assistance coming from the European Union and provision of equal conditions for the work of foreign businesses were discussed during the meeting of Acting President. Acting Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine Eduard Fedorov with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine Jaakko Lehtovirta and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Bureau of Investigation of Finland. The parties also agreed on an action plan for establishing cooperation between the Bureau and Finland law enforcement agencies.
"The analytical activities of the Economic Security Bureau are aimed in particular at creating a high-quality and transparent investment climate in Ukraine. Foreign investors should be sure that there are clear rules for business in our country without any pressure but with stability and guarantees of transparent and safe work. In addition to the security of investments we must guarantee the security of aid coming to Ukraine. All financial and technical assistance must be used for its intended purpose. We will protect it together with our foreign colleagues by implementing the best international practices," Eduard Fedorov emphasized.
Ambassador Jaakko Lehtovirta noted that Ukraine, which is strong in the economic and defense spheres, is an important partner for Finland.
"Now we have focused on humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine, and in the future we will focus on economic cooperation. Finland is interested in investing in Ukraine, so economic security is a priority for us" the diplomat said.
Separately, the participants of the meeting discussed common problems for Ukraine and Finland related to russia's attempts to circumvent European Union sanctions.
For general security it is important to inform EU countries and foreign companies about threats, to identify risks of russian intervention at an early stage. Areas of cooperation were also outlined on these issues.
