Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine exposed in Zakarpattia region one of the largest clandestine production facilities of household chemicals of well-known world brands.

The investigation identified a group of people who organized a full cycle of production of shampoos, detergents, washing powders, detergents, etc. Each of the members of the criminal group was assigned a specific role in the process of manufacturing, storage and sale of counterfeit goods. The finished products were sold wholesale and retail through Internet sites, telegram channels and in retail outlets in markets throughout Ukraine.

As a result of 15 searches of warehouses in Zakarpattia region the items were found and seized:

• 3 automated lines for bottling, labeling and packaging products;
• about 240 tons of finished products bearing the names of well-known global brands of household chemicals and raw materials;
• about 200 thousand packaging boxes and bottles with the names of well-known household chemicals manufacturers.

The estimated value of the seized products, raw materials and equipment is UAH 80 million.

Investigative actions are ongoing and the full range of persons involved in the illegal activity is being established.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use of trademarks, trade names, qualified indication of the origin of goods) is being conducted by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine and procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor general's office.
