Employees of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia took part in the fifth stage of the project «Support to strengthening the capacity of the Economic Security Bureau in the field of protection for the financial interests of the European Union».
The event was also attended by a representative of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
The aim of the project is to create and implement a system for protecting the EU's financial interests, as well as to share experience.
During the meeting, the ESBU delegation and the EPPO representative discussed analytical tools, fraud typologies, specifics of financial investigations and digital criminology.
For reference: The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is an independent body of the European Union established to fight crimes that harm the EU's financial interests. It was established on 1 June 2021 and since then has been investigating, prosecuting and reviewing criminal cases related to crimes against the EU budget, such as fraud, including cross-border VAT fraud, money laundering and corruption.
