In Zakarpattia, ESBU detectives have referred a case regarding the illegal sale of tobacco products to court

 Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the illegal acquisition of tobacco products for sale. The case materials involving a resident of the Zakarpattia region have been referred to court.

The investigation established that the individual purchased illegally manufactured cigarettes without excise tax stamps via the Internet and stored them at his place of residence for further sale. Furthermore, the man was not registered as a private entrepreneur and did not have a license to trade in excisable goods.

During the investigative actions, ESBU detectives identified and seized approximately 25,000 packs of tobacco products without excise tax stamps. The estimated value of the seized products is about UAH 2.5 million.

The suspect has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition for the purpose of sale and transportation for the same purpose of illegally manufactured tobacco products).
