Nearly 4.6 million UAH of VAT was not paid by a company that manages a chain of supermarkets in Volyn. To reduce tax liabilities, the enterprise documentarily processed the purchase of products that it did not actually receive. The company also used a business splitting scheme.
Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Volyn region exposed the violations.
According to the investigation, the director, and at the same time the owner of the company, processed fictitious purchases of food products for nearly 23 mln UAH. This allowed the enterprise to artificially inflate expenses and reduce tax liabilities.
During the pretrial investigation, the suspect fully reimbursed the damages caused to the state and additionally transferred 100,000 UAH to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Her actions have been qualified under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional tax evasion.
The criminal proceedings have been forwarded to court with a motion to release the suspect from criminal liability due to the full reimbursement of damages.
Procedural guidance is carried out by the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
