Employees of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine took part in the international conference OPSON XIII within the framework of the EMPACT project - European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats held in Tbilisi.
The event was jointly organized by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and NAS Carabinieri of the Republic of Italy with the support of EUROPOL.
The main topic of the meeting was to strengthen coordination of authorities and countries responsible for the prevention and investigation of crimes related to counterfeit food and beverages.
The conference was attended by delegates from about 100 countries (including the United Kingdom, the United States, almost all EU member states), representatives of international organizations (European Commission, European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), World Customs Organization (WCO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), etc.) and private organizations (Amazon, Bordeaux Wine Council, Barilla, etc.).
Participants shared their experience exchanged information and discussed new approaches to combating and preventing crimes related to intellectual property rights infringement, counterfeiting and money laundering.
Representatives of the ESBU informed the international community about the competence of the body, tools for detecting and investigating crimes, experience and results of work in this area.
The parties also discussed problematic issues and outlined future formats of cooperation within the framework of the new OPSON XIII operation.
