Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Chernivtsi region seized counterfeit alcohol and tobacco products with an estimated value of UAH 2.5 million from illegal trafficking.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation a group of people engaged in the illegal manufacture and sale of excisable goods, including alcohol, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in Chernivtsi region was identified.

ESBU conducted a series of searches at the addresses where the illegally manufactured products were stored and sold.

More than 40 thousand packs of cigarettes of various brands, 5,500 liters of alcohol-containing mixtures/alcohol and alcoholic beverages were seized.

The officers found draft records, other items for illegal sale of counterfeit goods and a truck used to transport the counterfeit.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 Article 204 and Part 1 Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by detectives of the Chernivtsi Regional Department of the State Security Service under the procedural supervision of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office
