Detectives of the Main Detective Unit of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have referred an indictment to court against a former official of a state-owned defense industry enterprise. He is accused of abuse of office.
The investigation revealed that the former department director, responsible for logistics and procurement, used his official position to enter into an agreement with a foreign company for the supply of capacitors at prices significantly exceeding their actual market value.
The contract was signed without proper economic justification, and the procurement terms failed to comply with the principles of effective and rational use of state funds.
As a result, the state enterprise suffered financial losses exceeding UAH 5 million.
The former official has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position causing grave consequences). The indictment has been referred to the court.
The procedural oversight is being carried out by prosecutors from the Zaporizhzhia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sphere of the Eastern Region.
It should be noted that, according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court's verdict of conviction.
