A detectives of the Territorial Administration of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in Zakarpattia region are investigating the illegal movement of excise goods across the state border.
In Zakarpattia the driver of a truck in a cistern for transporting liquefied gas tried to take 107.5 thousand packs of tobacco products out of Ukraine. These were cigarettes of well-known brands. In the future they were planned to be implemented on the territory of Romania.
During the inspection of the cistern, border guards of the Mukachevo detachment, together with customs officials, found 215 boxes of cigarettes without excise tax stamps.
In this way the organizers of the scheme tried to hide tobacco products from customs control and illegally export them from Ukraine.
A detectives of the ESBU submitted information to the ERDR on the basis of a report by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment about illegal transportation for the purpose of selling excise goods. Currently, the full range of persons involved in the specified crime is being established.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excise goods) is carried out by the detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Zakarpattia region under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Zakarpattia Region Prosecutor's Office.
