Detectives of the main unit of detectives of the ESBU together with employees of the Cyber Police, stopped the activities of an organized group of people who provided gambling services on the Internet without a license. So far five people involved have been notified of suspicion.
The investigation established that the citizen of Ukraine involved in the illegal activity three more people who acted as call center operators and one more accomplice - the site administrator. In this way the suspects organized the operation of an unlicensed website that provided players with access to gambling.
The detectives of the ESBU also established that the funds deposited by the players as bets which were lost, were transferred by members of the criminal group to their own bank accounts and transferred to cash.
Currently the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved. The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 28 Part 2, Art. 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine continues.
Operational support is carried out by employees of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine. Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office are in charge of the proceedings.
If found guilty the suspects face punishment in the form of a fine from UAH 680,000 to UAH 850,000 with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of three years.
