Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine informed officials of a communal medical facility in Zakarpattia region of suspicion of misappropriation and embezzlement of property through abuse of official position.

The director of a utility company - a medical institution acting deliberately in a prior conspiracy with a group of persons and the chief accountant took possession of particularly large sums of money.

During 2021, they concluded contracts between individuals and the company for a total amount of about UAH 2.2 million of which over UAH 1.2 million is the cost of consumables for the provided medical services, which they wasted.

Thus, by abusing their official position, the officials took possession of funds and caused material losses to the utility company in the total amount of more than UAH 2.2 million.

The director and chief accountant of the medical institution were notified of suspicions of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings with preliminary legal qualification of a criminal offense under part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position) is carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Zakarpattia region under the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia region and the Department of strategic investigations of the National Police in Zakarpattia region under the procedural guidance of the Zakarpattia regional Prosecutor's Office.
