Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Poltava region secured compensation for damages caused to the state due to deliberate tax evasion in the amount of UAH 9 million.

The pre-trial investigation established that the officials of the joint-stock company - supplier of natural gas in the Kharkiv region deliberately evaded the payment of environmental tax in particularly large amounts.

When carrying out financial and economic activities related to the transportation and supply of natural gas the officials reflected in the documentation underestimated indicators of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

In addition the damages caused to the state amounting to over UAH 9 million, confirmed by the conclusion of the examination.

Detectives of the ESBU informed the chief accountant of the company about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense, provided for in Part 3 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Evasion of payment of taxes, fees (mandatory payments)).

According to the payment orders, the damages caused to the state were compensated in full.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the Poltava region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office.

As of today, the pre-trial investigation has been completed the proceedings have been sent to the court.
