Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Kyiv region have secured the reimbursement of over UAH 10 million to the local budget for damages caused by land lease tax evasion.
The investigation revealed that for an extended period, officials of a company operating in the leasing and real estate management sector had been using land plots without proper documentation. The company failed to enter into lease agreements or process the necessary paperwork, despite effectively using the land for its business activities.
As a result, the local community's budget suffered losses exceeding UAH 10 million.
The pre-trial investigation was initiated based on an analytical product prepared by specialists of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Kyiv region. The amount of damages was confirmed by the conclusion of a forensic economic expert examination.
The individual responsible for the administrative and commercial functions of the enterprise has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 212, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (evasion of taxes, fees, or other mandatory payments).
During the pre-trial investigation, ESBU detectives ensured full restitution for the damages caused. The funds have already been transferred to the local budget. The criminal proceedings against the suspect have been referred to court with a petition to release the individual from criminal liability.
Procedural guidance in the criminal proceedings is provided by prosecutors from the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
