Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Lviv region secured the refund of over UAH 4 million of unpaid taxes to the state budget.

Employees of the ESBU established that a retailer had been evading taxes during 2022 and the first half of 2023.

The person responsible for the company's tax and accounting deliberately entered false information in the tax reports.

In particular the documents indicated understated amounts of income tax and overstated expenses by manipulating the cost of goods sold or non-existent marketing services. These services were declared but not actually provided.

As a result the state budget lost more than UAH 4 million in taxes.

During the investigation of the criminal proceedings the suspect fully admitted his guilt and compensated the state budget in full.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings under Part 1 Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion) was conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Lviv region with the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
