Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine with the operational support of the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the Chernihiv Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, exposed a scheme for the illegal production and sale of diesel fuel and gasoline.

A number of searches were conducted at the addresses of production facilities and at the addresses of companies that directly purchased the illegally manufactured products.

More than 700,000 liters of fuel worth about UAH 12 million were seized.

The ESBU officers established that individuals of one of the companies organized oil refining and production of low-quality fuel by adding various solvents. Subsequently, the illegally manufactured products under the guise of "Gas Condensate", which is not subject to excise tax were sold to various companies for cash, which in turn sold excisable products through a network of illegal gas stations.

Such actions of the company's officials in 2022-2023 caused significant losses to the state budget of Ukraine.

The said company, through illegal activities, evaded payment of excise tax in the amount of over UAH 12 million.

The necessary investigative actions are currently underway the full range of persons involved in the scheme is being established.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for sale of excisable goods) is being conducted by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine under the operational support of the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the Chernihiv Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine
