Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Poltava region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the illegal storage and sale of fuel in Kharkiv. The indictment has been sent to court.
The investigation established that a man, who was not registered as an entrepreneur, organized the illegal sale of gasoline. To facilitate this, he rented a gas station and purchased a batch of fuel of dubious origin for cash through the internet.
The suspect purchased 1,250 liters of gasoline. According to expert examination results, the fuel did not meet state quality standards.
He subsequently planned to sell the fuel without the required permits for storage or the retail sale of excisable goods.
The individual has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal purchase, storage, and sale of excisable goods—fuel).
As part of the pre-trial investigation, ESBU detectives conducted searches and shut down the illegal gas station. During these investigative actions, the fuel was seized, and the court subsequently placed the person under arrest.
The criminal case materials have now been referred to court.
Prosecutorial oversight is being carried out by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
