Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region have completed a pre-trial investigation into an organized criminal group in the Kyiv region that sold illegally manufactured tobacco products.
The investigation established that a group of people bought cigarettes on the Internet delivered them with the help of a postal operator and later sold them through retail kiosks located in the territory of the Kyiv region. The network had 8 retail premises.
In the course of investigative actions, detectives of the ESBU discovered and seized more than 2,000 packs of illegally manufactured tobacco products without Ukrainian excise tax stamps.
According to the experts' conclusions the mentioned illegally manufactured tobacco products do not meet the requirements of the State Standards of Ukraine, and the markings applied to part of the seized tobacco products do not meet the requirements of the Law.
So far, the persons have been notified of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the indictment has been sent to court.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by detectives of the TD ESBU in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
