The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine agreed on an algorithm of interaction with the Europol National Contact Point in Ukraine, as part of a working meeting with representatives of the Department of International Police Cooperation of the National Police of Ukraine.
The main purpose of the meeting is the development and deepening of relations between the ESBU and law enforcement agencies of foreign countries, international organizations and specialized bodies of the European Union. It was agreed on the participation of Bureau representatives in training programs and events held by competent bodies of foreign countries and other international programs on issues of improving the work of the ESBU on the territory of other countries.
NPU is the National Contact Point of Europol in Ukraine, which coordinates, organizes and ensures the cooperation of state bodies of Ukraine with bodies of foreign countries in the field of combating crime using the capabilities of Interpol, Europol, other international organizations and structures.
For reference: The National Police of Ukraine ensures the fulfillment of obligations arising from Ukraine's membership in Interpol and the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Police Office on operational and strategic cooperation. Europol and Interpol are different international organizations that interact with each other and aim to help countries fight crime. Yes, Europol extends its activities only to EU member states. At the same time Interpol has 195 member countries which makes it the largest police organization in the world.
